Public Safety Testing

AcuSkill is an authorized Public Safety Testing Testing Center located in Colorado Springs, CO.

What to Bring on Assessment Day

If you do not bring the correct identification, you will not be allowed to test.

You must bring both a Primary ID and a Supplemental ID.

Primary ID

You must bring a valid, non-expired, Government-issued ID that bears your photo, full name, and signature:

  • State or Province issued Driver's License
  • State or Province issued ID card
  • Military ID card
  • National ID card
  • Passport
  • Tribal ID card
  • Permanent Resident card (Green Card)

Supplemental ID

You must bring a valid, non-expired, Supplemental ID:

  • Government-issued photo ID (in addition to the Primary ID)
  • Military Common Access Card (CAC)
  • Department of Defense (DoD) CAC
  • Student ID card
  • Credit Card (may not be acceptable for some exams)

The First and Last names on your ID must match the names that we receive from your professor or exam coordinator. Small deviations (such as Dave instead of David) are allowed.

It is the examinee's responsibility to review the ID requirements for your exam before making your appointment.

AcuSkill and its test vendors/sponsors are not responsible for lost, stolen, or misplaced personal items.

  • Do not bring anything aside from the required items needed to verify your identity.
  • Do not bring backpacks or large purses - while we do have lockers, they will not hold large items.
  • Do not bring food or drinks. They are not allowed in testing rooms or lockers. We have a water cooler in the waiting room.

Items prohibited in Testing Rooms include:

food/drinks, bags, backpacks, purses, notes, electronics, recording devices, cell phones, pagers, watches, pens/pencils, calculators, jackets/coats, hats/hoodies, wallets, eyeglass cases, sunglasses, jewelry, coins, keys, and unauthorized books or materials.

All electronic devices must be turned off before storing them in our lockers. If you refuse to store your personal items, you will be unable to test and will lose your exam and/or proctor fee(s).

You should arrive at AcuSkill at least 15 minutes before the start time of your scheduled exam.

  • If you arrive more than 15 minutes but less than 30 minutes late, and your exam will not extend beyond business hours, you may have to wait for an extended period.
  • If you arrive 30 minutes or more late, you will not be permitted to test, will be marked as a "No Show," must schedule a new attempt, and will lose your fees.
  • If you arrive late and your exam would extend beyond business hours, you will not be permitted to test.
  • If you fail to appear, you will be marked as a "No Show" and will lose your fees.

EFFECTIVE: May 17, 2021

AcuSkill has restructured Proctor Fees starting at $25 for the first hour and then $10 per hour after that for the majority of the exams.

  • Proctor Fees may have increased or decreased based on the exam time.
  • No refunds or compensation for fees that have decreased and were already paid.
  • No additional charges for fees that have increased and were already paid.

  • You must complete Steps 1 - 3 on the webpage in order for your exam date to be approved.
  • PST will need at least two weeks notice to set up your testing.



There are two fees associated with taking the exam:

  • First fee: The cost of the exam that you will pay to Public Safety Testing.
    • Candidates will pay and register for the exam on the Public Safety Testing (PST) website AFTER an exam date has been scheduled and has been confirmed with PST and AcuSkill.
  • Second fee: The cost of the proctoring fee AcuSkill charges for each PST exam.

Important: You must complete the Typing Test prior to taking your written exam. The minimum passing score on the typing test is 35 WPM with a 90% accuracy rate. Some agencies require a higher WPM rate of 40 WPM or 45 WPM with 90% accuracy rate. Please check each agency's profile to view their typing test score requirement.



Scheduling Rules

Scheduling

  • During the checkout process, when prompted, use the PayPal Payment option to pay for the Exam Sitting Fee (Proctor/Booking Fee).
    • If the proctor fee is not paid during checkout, then your seat is not reserved.
  • ***NO CANCELLATION POLICY: When a candidate schedules an exam sit time at AcuSkill, that seat is fully reserved for that candidate and is not available for other candidates. At the time of reservation, that specific time and date is taken out of the scheduling and registration system. Because of this AcuSkill does not allow cancellations.

Rescheduling

  • You may reschedule your exam through the online scheduling system, 24 hours / 7 days a week, up to 48 hours prior to the start of your exam.
  • You must give at least a 48 HOUR NOTICE in order to reschedule.
    • Rescheduling an exam time less than 48 hours prior to the start of your scheduled time is subject to a forfeiture of the proctoring fee.
    • Proctoring fees are due and are non-refundable and non-transferable for no-shows.
